Hansel Und Gretel Model.

this model has the correct pitches for the cuckoo scene in Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel. They can be fine tuned by adjusting the end cap raise or lower the pitch about a half step up or down. The volume is sufficient to be played and heard off stage if desired.

This fall the San Francisco Opera is performing Hansel und Gretel. Finding the kuckuck was a challenge. I tried a recorder at the first rehearsal and kept cracking the notes by blowing too hard to achieve the proper volume. This led me to experiment with other options. L’Cuckoo was born.
